Christmas in Contemporary Love Poetry
Christmas, probably more than any Christian celebration other than Easter, is the source of inspiration for many pieces of contemporary love poetry every year, because it speaks to the very heart of mankind.
Contemporary love poets continually introduce new messages of love related to the birth of Jesus, globally. There are no limitations to the vast horizons of expression with respect to Christmas greetings and messages penned by contemporary love poets over the years; nor should there ever be.
Every possible holiday greeting or message finds its way into poetic writings about Christmas, the events leading up to it and its actual celebration. There is invariably a tremendous emphasis on its historical aspect, subject to current day expression, which in turn is open to further interpretation in the future.
Criticism of contemporary love poetry related to Christmas can vary considerably because with Christmas, there are varying degrees of associated religious controversy. In other words, contemporary love poetry related to Christmas can be quite controversial, whether historically accepted by people or not. Contemporary love poets, as well as critics and readers, range from believers to non-believers.
Emotion is a key element in contemporary love poetry about Christmas, particularly with respect to expressions of joy. Elation often runs rampant, but it is not always accepted by everyone, particularly when it contradicts the understanding of others in terms of the meaning of Christmas, which may be subject to misunderstanding.
Of course, there are other important factors to consider, one of which is the understanding of the concept of giving, in relation to the gift of His Son to mankind by God, and the offshoot of it, in terms of giving of gifts to one another.
The personification of Santa Claus enters the scene as well, continually re-surfacing in terms of both Christian and non-Christian understandings of Christmas. There is no limit to contemporary love poetry written about Santa Claus, with much of it being directed towards the teaching and entertainment of children of all ages, in every era.
Poetic writings and Christmas music are an exciting part of Christmas every year, all around the globe. Contemporary love poets have found expression of their contemporary love poetry through Christmas music, ever since Christmas began to be celebrated. This continues in the present and will continue on into the future, regardless of critics or readers who oppose it. The message of love is eternal and cannot be refuted, even though it may be protested by some.
No one can deny the importance of Christmas as revealed in contemporary love poetry of the past, or the present. It will also be an important part of contemporary love poetry in the future. The same message of love is always expressed in conjunction with its time. Each literary expression opens the horizon of meaning and significance, even further.
The contemporary love poet acts as an instrument of literary expression, whose contemporary love poetry is invariably expanded upon later.
New words, concepts, thoughts and ideas continue to emerge in every era, including the present, where there is an ever increasing emphasis on the freedom of speech. Freedom of speech is open to interpretation as well, and thus even related to the traditional Christmas theme and its expressions thereof, there can be tremendous controversy.
But, Christmas will continue, in conjunction with its vast array of literary expression by contemporary love poets. Love never ends or its expression in contemporary love poetry in every era.
