Passion and Its Role in Contemporary Love Poetry
Passion and its role in contemporary love poetry and its impact throughout the eras, as well as in the current era, is an indisputable reality. That is not likely to change in the future.
Love and non-love are both realities of each time and place throughout the course of history, and thus, contemporary love poetry inspired by the contemporary love poet's muse in his or her era, bursts forth on the literary horizon of time in every era.
If you are able to perceive passion and non-passion on a positive and negative continuum of presence or absence, light or non-light, good or not good, in other words, in terms of polar opposites, you will be able to comprehend at least in part, its potential impact on the poetic inspiration of the contemporary love poet writing in his or her own time.
A truly passionate contemporary love poet cannot fail whereas the pseudo-poet who attempts to write apart from passion, seldom succeeds. It is the passion of the true poet, in varying degrees of course, that the critics and readers relate to, simply because it has life.
Spiraling up the course of history in respect to contemporary love poetry is the increasing awareness of passion and the importance of its role to humankind.
Passion in contemporary love poetry arouses similar passion in the hearts and minds of man in every era. It is destined by its very nature to do so even now, as well as in the future.
Positive passion and negative passion create a tension, a tenuous balance throughout the course of history with an ongoing struggle to relieve negative passions, particularly those related to suffering man.
Any philosophical discourse on passion and its purity of nature cannot help but contain a reference to the entire gamut of passion found in contemporary love poetry. It is like the wheels on a train, each one moved in turn by the preceding movement of another.
Every era documents its era of pure and impure passion, as written by contemporary love poets. In time, it is unearthed or discovered in all true contemporary love poetry, although not always immediately. Much of it is subject to interpretation or misinterpretation by critics or others.
Purity of passion can be interpreted or read accurately, as well as misread or misinterpreted as impurity of passion in any era, or later.
The power to heal lies inherent in any contemporary love poetry, if read or interpreted in terms of its healing power. Disbelief denies the power to heal regardless of how accurately it is portrayed by the contemporary love poet. Part of the hope of mankind lies in the potency of the passion portrayed in contemporary love poetry.
